Swimwear that Suits!

Having to try on what feels like 1000 options to try to find the one swimwear piece (or pieces) that feels “most palatable” is probably one of the most sobering experiences for many of us when it comes to summer wardrobe selecting.

These tips might help to give you a head start in making searching for a swimsuit you feel good in, as pain free as possible!

Firstly, always go for a colour you know really suits you and is great for your skin tone. Ignore every other swimsuit in the shop and just ‘hone in’ on the ones in a colour that suits you – that at least cuts out a good proportion of the other options that would have taken up valuable changing room time!

Then think about your body shape.

•If you’re an hourglass, support is key. Choose under-wiring or built-in support for maximum comfort. Avoid gathering on the bust or hips.

•If you’re an inverted triangle (broader shoulders than waist and hips), halter and square necklines work beautifully with your straight shoulder line. Also consider styles where you can buy separates to give you the freedom to get a look that works best for you…play around with details on the hips.

•A tankini that covers your middle and isn’t too figure-hugging or a swimsuit with discreet control panels will work well for apple or oval shapes. Details on your shoulders will help draw the eye upwards.

•While swimsuits with a central panel in a darker colour is a great option if you’re a rectangle – creating the illusion of curves and a slimmer shape. Geometric patterns will also look great.
