Don’t think for a minute that finding out what colours suit you in anyway ‘old fashioned’ or ‘fluffy’. It’s actually empowering and quite frankly fundamental to your own self confidence, as I found out on my recent Style Away Day…
The venue Rockcliffe Hall was stunningly beautiful and a fantastic setting to make you feel really special, however this wasn’t my light bulb moment! When I arrived and introduced myself what became very clear was that all the women on my Style Away Day were 40+ and had made the decision to get off the Corporate Rollercoaster and start their own business. So effectively they had shunned the corporate logo and now THEY were their own brand! Including me!
Everyone was really supportive! I am not just talking Sarah Heron, who was incredible, but every single woman in the group was genuine, and driven, and willing to bend over backwards to support the women there even though we had only just met.
That was the group – perimenopausal and menopausal women, all business orientated, still driven enough to take a leap of faith in their own abilities and set up on their own. But the big question is, what did we learn?
I can’t speak for anyone else but here are my key takeaways from the day
– Found out what my body shape was (had no idea!)
– Discovered what colours are the most flattering (and not just clothes also talking eyeshadow, lipstick, foundation, and hair colour)
– Learnt how to accessorise (quite frankly would never have dreamt about the power of a belt since I am so self-conscious about my Meno-tummy)
– Was enlightened on how you can change an outfit to suit the event, or go day-time to night-time just by accessorising! Amazing x
– And finally, but very importantly, I quickly realised I had a huge collection of clothes that don’t really suit me from either a colour or style perspective…and now knew exactly what did.
The bottom line is I am now not hung up about my bottom! I have learnt how to dress with confidence to suit my shape. Yes it’s baby steps but I can now walk into shop and instead of ‘random’ buying can quickly identify the colour ranges and styles that I need to focus on. Plus I am not wasting money on clothes and makeup that make me looked washed out.
I decided to pay for the Style Away Day because to be honest I was a little bit lost when it came to choosing clothes, and especially when dressing for an evening out. Menopause has changed many things in my life including loss of confidence, but because of Sarah’s Style Away Day I am now channeling a renewed Mo-Jo!!
Sarah was so supportive, non-judgmental, and has helped me in many ways not just style guidance. I would also like to think that the ladies in my group have become my friends – it’s all about women supporting women at the end of the day. So if you are starting a business, or have just simply lost your confidence then would highly recommend you trying this! The value for money was outstanding. Take that leap and grab your inner confidence and brand boost x
Final shout out to Lauren McWilliams who was our fantastic photographer for the (included) Photoshoot, and made me look amazing despite a ‘bad hair day’
A day I won’t forget x Thanks so much for a fantastic experience all round x
